Hugo holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Cambridge, as well as a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Montreal. During his studies, he distinguished himself through his consistent academic excellence and leadership roles. He has served as editor-in-chief of Le Pigeon dissident, the student newspaper of the Faculty of Law at the University of Montreal, and then as president of his student association at the University of Cambridge.

His practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, with a particular interest in insolvency and corporate restructuring issues.
